Welcome Back Welcome back! I am sure many of you are relieved the holidays are over and the children are returning to school. Unfortunately the weather here wasn’t so good but I hope you enjoyed yourselves and are fully recharged for the new year ahead. I would also like to extend a special welcome to all our new families, as we look forward to another busy and successful year. The last school year ended with many sporting successes and excellent Year 6 SATs results due to the hard work of the pupils and staff – a big ‘THANK YOU’ to you! We would like to wish all our ex-Year 6 pupils every success as they take up their new classes in high school. Medical Updates If your child has a medical condition which we need to be aware of, or if there are any changes to your child’s existing condition or requirements, please ensure we have the correct information. PlannersThere has been a delay, by the printers, on receiving the planners this year, They are expected to arrive some time next week. Please send notes in where necessary until planners are received. Thank you. Punctuality I would like to remind parents that children need to be on the school site at 8.50am ie not too late for going in at 8.55am or too early when there is no yard supervision. Our school's portal (VLN) will eventually give you a personalised view of information and resources relevant to you and your child/ children, therefore helping to improve communication to and from the school. We anticipate that it will be another two and a half years before it is fully functional. At the beginning it was being trialed by our two Year Five classes. We are now introducing it to Year Two, Year Three and Year Four.

Holidays in term time As explained last term, no holidays will be authorised during term time this year. The children already get over 14 weeks holiday and missing school does impact on their learning.

‘First Steps at Nicol Mere’ and ‘Nicol Mere Early Years Unit’
The ‘Out of Hours’ breakfast, after school and holiday clubs are filling up quickly. If you wish to reserve a place or ask any questions please contact Sue Morris on 01942 711964 or 07732 092666.
